## Program and Process

We will talk a lot about the running "**process**", so it's useful to have clarity about what it means, and what's the difference with the word "**program**".

### What is a Program

The word **program** is commonly used to describe many things:

* The **code** that you write, the **Python files**.
* The **file** that can be **executed** by the operating system, for example: `python`, `python.exe` or `uvicorn`.

## Installing

The new installer is intended to be modular and very explicit about what is installed. It has
far more steps than the Istio installer - but each step is smaller and focused on a specific
feature, and can be performed by different people/teams at different times.

It is strongly recommended that different namespaces are used, with different service accounts.

Let's see what each of those options mean:

* `main:app`: This is the same syntax used by Uvicorn, `main` means the Python module named "`main`", so, a file `main.py`. And `app` is the name of the variable that is the **FastAPI** application.
    * You can imagine that `main:app` is equivalent to a Python `import` statement like:

It will use the default status code or the one you set in your *path operation*.

## Additional status codes

If you want to return additional status codes apart from the main one, you can do that by returning a `Response` directly, like a `JSONResponse`, and set the additional status code directly.
