</p> <h3 id="Type_inference">Type inference</h3> <p> A use of a generic function may omit some or all type arguments if they can be <i>inferred</i> from the context within which the function is used, including the constraints of the function's type parameters. Type inference succeeds if it can infer the missing type arguments

doc/next/6-stdlib/2-unique.md
The new [unique](/pkg/unique) package provides facilities for canonicalizing values (like "interning" or "hash-consing"). Any value of comparable type may be canonicalized with the new `Make[T]` function, which produces a reference to a canonical copy of the value in the form of a `Handle[T]`. Two `Handle[T]` are equal if and only if the values used to produce the handles are equal, allowing programs to deduplicate values and reduce their memory footprint.

confuse the Go garbage collector; they are sometimes not really pointers but data structures encoded in a pointer type. All operations on these types must happen in C. The proper constant to initialize an empty such reference is 0, not nil. These special cases were introduced in Go 1.10. For auto-updating code from Go 1.9 and earlier, use the cftype or jni rewrites in the Go fix tool: go tool fix -r cftype <pkg>
