### OpenStack

In this cycle, SIG OpenStack focused on configuration simplification through smarter defaults and the use of auto-detection wherever feasible (Block Storage API versions, Security Groups) as well as updating API support, including:

*   Block Storage (Cinder) V3 is now supported.
*   Load Balancer (Octavia) V2 is now supported, in addition to Neutron LBaaS V2.
*   Neutron LBaas V1 support has been removed.

* The Local Volume Plugin has been updated to support Block volumeMode PVs. With this change, it is now possible to create local volume PVs for raw block devices. ([#59303](https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/59303), [@dhirajh](https://github.com/dhirajh))

SIG Storage made a lot of progress in the 1.18 release.
In particular, the following storage features are moving to GA in Kubernetes 1.18:
- Raw Block Support: Allow volumes to be surfaced as block devices inside containers instead of just mounted filesystems.
- Volume Cloning: Duplicate a PersistentVolumeClaim and underlying storage volume using the Kubernetes API via CSI.
