1.  API changes require discussion, use cases, etc. Code comes later.
2.  Pull requests are great for small fixes for bugs, documentation, etc.
3.  Pull requests are not merged directly into the master branch.

API changes
-----------

By default, MinIO shards the objects across N/2 data and N/2 parity drives. Though, you can use [storage classes](https://github.com/minio/minio/tree/master/docs/erasure/storage-class) to use a custom configuration. We recommend N/2 data and parity blocks, as it ensures the best protection from drive failures.

URLs that share the same address may also share the same underlying TCP socket connection. Sharing a connection has substantial performance benefits: lower latency, higher throughput (due to [TCP slow start](https://www.igvita.com/2011/10/20/faster-web-vs-tcp-slow-start/)) and conserved battery. OkHttp uses a [ConnectionPool](https://square.github.io/okhttp/5.x/okhttp/okhttp3/-connection-pool/) that automatically reuses HTTP/1.x connections and multiplexes HTTP/2 connections.
