Istio is an open source service mesh that layers transparently onto existing distributed applications. Istio’s powerful features provide a uniform and more efficient way to secure, connect, and monitor services. ## Liveness probe

This probe always responds with '200 OK'. Only fails if 'etcd' is configured and unreachable. When liveness probe fails, Kubernetes like platforms restart the container.

## Readiness probe

The Istio CNI Node Agent is responsible for several things
