.sslSocketFactory(clientCertificates.sslSocketFactory(), clientCertificates.trustManager()) .build(); ``` With a server that holds a certificate and a client that trusts it we have enough for an HTTPS handshake. The best part of this example is that we don't need to make our test code insecure with a a fake `HostnameVerifier` or `X509TrustManager`. Certificate Authorities -----------------------

If not provided, it's `None` by default, here we provide `"World"` as the default value to use. Then you could call that Python program: <div class="termy"> ```console // Here we don't set the env var yet $ python main.py // As we didn't set the env var, we get the default value Hello World from Python // But if we create an environment variable first $ export MY_NAME="Wade Wilson"

If we're building with JDK8, then clearly we're sticking to JDK8 APIs. However, I assume (but did not confirm) that we'd have the same issue with our -android builds, which need animal-sniffer so that they can check that we're sticking to JDK6-like APIs. So instead, we use javac9, which doesn't lead to this error.
