This can be very useful for setting up **resources** that you need to use for the whole app, and that are **shared** among requests, and/or that you need to **clean up** afterwards. For example, a database connection pool, or loading a shared machine learning model.

# Security Tools

When you need to declare dependencies with OAuth2 scopes you use `Security()`.

But you still need to define what is the dependable, the callable that you pass as a parameter to `Depends()` or `Security()`.

There are multiple tools that you can use to create those dependables, and they get integrated into OpenAPI so they are shown in the automatic docs UI, they can be used by automatically generated clients and SDKs, etc.

The original destination is then extracted to determined which certificate to use.
SNI is not used because it is illegal to use IPs in SNI, and there is no other existing standard format to represent what we need to.
Additionally, using the redirection mechanism reduces the need for clients to know the destination's ztunnel address.

## Setting up your development environment

In order to make changes to Gradle, you'll need:

* A [Java Development Kit](http://jdk.java.net/) (JDK) **version 11**. Fixed version is required to use [remote cache](#remote-build-cache). 
* A text editor or IDE. We use and recommend [IntelliJ IDEA CE](http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/).  IntelliJ Ultimate will also work. You'll need IntelliJ 2021.2.2 or newer.

# Response - Change Status Code

You probably read before that you can set a default [Response Status Code](../tutorial/response-status-code.md){.internal-link target=_blank}.

But in some cases you need to return a different status code than the default.

## Use case

For example, imagine that you want to return an HTTP status code of "OK" `200` by default.

Istio consumes _many_ different types of clients (at the time of writing, 7), as well as informers for each of these.
Additionally, we often need to convert to various different client forms for different libraries we integrate with.

`kube.Client` just bundles these all in one place, so we have a single object to pass around anywhere we need Kubernetes access.
Additionally, it has a fake client variant, that does the same thing but with fake clients for use in unit tests.

If you are developing an application with an older non-async framework, and can work with all its defaults, **it can be a great tool**.

But if you need to change some of the defaults, support more than one predefined database, work with an async framework (like FastAPI), etc, you will need to add quite some complex extra code to override those defaults.
