There are, however, times when we cannot maintain complete compatibility.
If code depends on buggy (including insecure) behavior,
then fixing the bug will break that code.
New features can also have similar impacts:
enabling the HTTP/2 use by the HTTP client broke programs
connecting to servers with buggy HTTP/2 implementations.

## Dependency Injection { #dependency-injection }

Using `BackgroundTasks` also works with the dependency injection system, you can declare a parameter of type `BackgroundTasks` at multiple levels: in a *path operation function*, in a dependency (dependable), in a sub-dependency, etc.

### Gradle runtimes

Gradle is also made up of several different processes that work together to "run the build", such as the Gradle daemon and the `gradlew` command.

Each process, or "runtime", applies different constraints to the code that runs in that process.

A default retention period and retention mode can be configured on a bucket to be applied to objects created in that bucket. Independent of retention, an object can also be under legal hold. This effectively disallows all deletes of an object under legal hold until the legal hold is removed by an API call.
