## Technical Details { #technical-details }

The class `BackgroundTasks` comes directly from [`starlette.background`](https://www.starlette.dev/background/).

It is imported/included directly into FastAPI so that you can import it from `fastapi` and avoid accidentally importing the alternative `BackgroundTask` (without the `s` at the end) from `starlette.background`.

All the same process that applied for path parameters also applies for query parameters:

* Editor support (obviously)
* Data <dfn title="converting the string that comes from an HTTP request into Python data">"parsing"</dfn>
* Data validation
* Automatic documentation

## Defaults { #defaults }

As query parameters are not a fixed part of a path, they can be optional and can have default values.

We need to turn this list of phases into a set of plugin objects that have an XML representation like the following:

That would work for most of the cases. 😎

You could use that command for example to start your **FastAPI** app in a container, in a server, etc.

## ASGI Servers { #asgi-servers }

Let's go a little deeper into the details.

FastAPI uses a standard for building Python web frameworks and servers called <abbr title="Asynchronous Server Gateway Interface">ASGI</abbr>. FastAPI is an ASGI web framework.
