# `UploadFile` class

You can define *path operation function* parameters to be of the type `UploadFile` to receive files from the request.

You can import it directly from `fastapi`:

# `HTTPConnection` class

When you want to define dependencies that should be compatible with both HTTP and WebSockets, you can define a parameter that takes an `HTTPConnection` instead of a `Request` or a `WebSocket`.

You can import it from `fastapi.requests`:

Its type must be a <a href="#Type_definitions">defined</a> type <code>T</code> or a
pointer to a defined type <code>T</code>, possibly followed by a list of type parameter
names <code>[P1, P2, …]</code> enclosed in square brackets.
<code>T</code> is called the receiver <i>base type</i>. A receiver base type cannot be
a pointer or interface type and it must be defined in the same package as the method.

    * This will be used by the **automatic docs**.
    * It will also be used by automatic client code generation tools.

But most importantly:

* It will **limit and filter** the output data to what is defined in the return type.
    * This is particularly important for **security**, we'll see more of that below.
