use. You can do this by setting the generic CC_FOR_TARGET or the
more specific CC_FOR_${GOOS}_${GOARCH} (for example, CC_FOR_linux_arm)
environment variable when building the toolchain using make.bash,
or you can set the CC environment variable any time you run the go tool.

The CXX_FOR_TARGET, CXX_FOR_${GOOS}_${GOARCH}, and CXX
environment variables work in a similar way for C++ code.

### New unique package

The new [unique](/pkg/unique) package provides facilities for
canonicalizing values (like "interning" or "hash-consing").

Any value of comparable type may be canonicalized with the new
`Make[T]` function, which produces a reference to a canonical copy of
the value in the form of a `Handle[T]`.
Two `Handle[T]` are equal if and only if the values used to produce the
handles are equal, allowing programs to deduplicate values and reduce
