This code won't be executed in your app, we only need it to *document* how that *external API* should look like.

But, you already know how to easily create automatic documentation for an API with **FastAPI**.

So we are going to use that same knowledge to document how the *external API* should look like... by creating the *path operation(s)* that the external API should implement (the ones your API will call).

    - periodically copy the K8S JWT token for istio-cni on the host to connect to K8S.
    - injects the CNI plugin config to the CNI config file
        - CNI installer will try to look for the config file under the mounted CNI net dir based on file name extensions (`.conf`, `.conflist`)
        - the file name can be explicitly set by `CNI_CONF_NAME` env var

You would of course use the same ideas you read in [About FastAPI versions](versions.md){.internal-link target=_blank} to set the ranges of versions.

For example, your `requirements.txt` could look like:

And you would normally install those package dependencies with `pip`, for example:

The simplest FastAPI file could look like this:

Copy that to a file `main.py`.

This could be especially useful during testing, as it's very easy to override a dependency with your own custom settings.

Coming from the previous example, your `config.py` file could look like:
