    ### Consistency Guarantees

    MinIO follows strict **read-after-write** and **list-after-write** consistency model for all i/o operations both in distributed and standalone modes. This consistency model is only guaranteed if you use disk filesystems such as xfs, zfs or btrfs etc.. for distributed setup.

    **In our tests we also found ext4 does not honor POSIX O_DIRECT/Fdatasync semantics, ext4 trades performance for consistency guarantees. Please avoid ext4 in your setup.**

    ## Test using MinIO Client `mc`

    `mc` provides a modern alternative to UNIX commands like ls, cat, cp, mirror, diff etc. It supports filesystems and Amazon S3 compatible cloud storage services. Follow the MinIO Client [Quickstart Guide](https://docs.min.io/community/minio-object-store/reference/minio-mc.html#quickstart) for further instructions.

      {{.HelpName}} {{if .VisibleFlags}}[FLAGS] {{end}}DIR{1...64} DIR{65...128}

    DIR:
      DIR points to a directory on a filesystem. When you want to combine
      multiple drives into a single large system, pass one directory per
      filesystem separated by space. You may also use a '...' convention
      to abbreviate the directory arguments. Remote directories in a
      distributed setup are encoded as HTTP(s) URIs.
