    * [StorageOS](http://www.storageos.com) can be used as a storage provider for Kubernetes.  With StorageOS, capacity from local or attached storage is pooled across the cluster, providing converged infrastructure for cloud-native applications.

All access to MinIO object storage is via S3/SQL SELECT API. In addition to the compute nodes, MinIO containers are also managed by Kubernetes as stateful containers with local storage (JBOD/JBOF) mapped as persistent local volumes. This architecture enables multi-tenant MinIO, allowing isolation of data between customers.

By default, MinIO shards the objects across N/2 data and N/2 parity drives. Though, you can use [storage classes](https://github.com/minio/minio/tree/master/docs/erasure/storage-class) to use a custom configuration. We recommend N/2 data and parity blocks, as it ensures the best protection from drive failures.
