But you can also install an ASGI server manually. Make sure you create a [virtual environment](../virtual-environments.md){.internal-link target=_blank}, activate it, and then you can install the server application. For example, to install Uvicorn: <div class="termy"> ```console $ pip install "uvicorn[standard]" ---> 100% ``` </div>

But you still want to be able to filter and convert the data you return with a `response_model`. For those cases, you can use a `Response` parameter. ## Use a `Response` parameter { #use-a-response-parameter } You can declare a parameter of type `Response` in your *path operation function* (as you can do for cookies and headers). And then you can set the `status_code` in that *temporal* response object.

docs/en/docs/tutorial/dependencies/dependencies-in-path-operation-decorators.md
In some cases you don't really need the return value of a dependency inside your *path operation function*. Or the dependency doesn't return a value. But you still need it to be executed/solved. For those cases, instead of declaring a *path operation function* parameter with `Depends`, you can add a `list` of `dependencies` to the *path operation decorator*.
