## Install FastAPI

The first step is to install FastAPI.

Make sure you create a [virtual environment](../virtual-environments.md){.internal-link target=_blank}, activate it, and then **install FastAPI**:

### Installing xl-meta

To install, [Go](https://golang.org/dl/) must be installed. Once installed, execute this to install the binary:

go install github.com/minio/minio/docs/debugging/xl-meta@latest
```

use the equivalent component in `istio-system`, configured with the official installer, or use a different
version or implementation.
