## Details about the `Request` object { #details-about-the-request-object }

As **FastAPI** is actually **Starlette** underneath, with a layer of several tools on top, you can use Starlette's [`Request`](https://www.starlette.dev/requests/) object directly when you need to.

If you want to secure your API, there are several better things you can do, for example:

* Make sure you have well defined Pydantic models for your request bodies and responses.
* Configure any required permissions and roles using dependencies.

   * see calls in Google code that pass a null `dir` to a FilenameFilter.... So let's declare the
   * parameter as non-nullable (since passing null to a FilenameFilter is unsafe in general), but if
   * someone still manages to pass null, let's continue to have the method work.
   *
   * (PatternFilenameFilter is of course one of those classes that shouldn't be a publicly visible

Inconsistency in spelling conventions can lead to several issues:

* **Confusion for users and contributors**: Mixed spellings (e.g., "color" and "colour", "initialize" and "initialise") in the codebase create confusion about which variant to use

Un middleware no tiene que estar hecho para FastAPI o Starlette para funcionar, siempre que siga la especificación ASGI.
