# HTTP Basic Auth

For the simplest cases, you can use HTTP Basic Auth.

In HTTP Basic Auth, the application expects a header that contains a username and a password.

If it doesn't receive it, it returns an HTTP 401 "Unauthorized" error.

And returns a header `WWW-Authenticate` with a value of `Basic`, and an optional `realm` parameter.

That tells the browser to show the integrated prompt for a username and password.

### SIG Auth

- The default delegating authorization options now allow unauthenticated access to healthz, readyz, and livez.  A system:masters user connecting to an authz delegator will not perform an authz check. ### External credential providers

Requests to a deprecated API are returned with a warning containing a target removal release and any replacement API.
Warnings can also be returned by [admission webhooks](https://kubernetes.io/docs/reference/access-authn-authz/extensible-admission-controllers/#admissionreview-response-warning),

tls_client_auth  (string)    clientAuth determines the Kafka server's policy for TLS client auth
sasl             (on|off)    set to 'on' to enable SASL authentication
tls              (on|off)    set to 'on' to enable TLS
tls_skip_verify  (on|off)    trust server TLS without verification, defaults to "on" (verify)
client_tls_cert  (path)      path to client certificate for mTLS auth

The client-go credential plugins can now be passed in the current cluster information via the `KUBERNETES_EXEC_INFO` environment variable.
