# Adding a New Language to Fess

This guide explains how to add internationalization (i18n) support for a new language in Fess.

## Overview

Fess uses a two-tier language support system:

1. **Full UI Translation** (13 languages): Complete user interface translation with label and message files
2. **Search/Analysis Support** (40+ languages): Language-specific text analysis for search indexing

- Problem generation services (aka the "problems API").
- User prompting services.
- Build options infrastructure.
- The console and CLI, as a specific implementation of these services.

The UI architecture module uses the core runtime architecture module. It provides APIs that are used by the other modules and platforms.

## Pydantic { #pydantic }

MinIO uses a key-management-system (KMS) to support SSE-S3. If a client requests SSE-S3, or auto-encryption is enabled, the MinIO server encrypts each object with a unique object key which is protected by a master key managed by the KMS.
