# Python Types Intro { #python-types-intro }

Python has support for optional "type hints" (also called "type annotations").

These **"type hints"** or annotations are a special syntax that allow declaring the <abbr title="for example: str, int, float, bool">type</abbr> of a variable.

By declaring types for your variables, editors and tools can give you better support.

#### GNU/Linux and macOS (regular user)

On Linux and macOS you can use `--user` to run the container as regular user.

> NOTE: make sure --user has write permission to *${HOME}/data* prior to using `--user`.

3.  Guava has one dependency that is needed for linkage at runtime:
    `com.google.guava:failureaccess:1.0.3`. It also has
    [some annotation-only dependencies][guava-deps], which we discuss in more

A path parameter is always required as it has to be part of the path. Even if you declared it with `None` or set a default value, it would not affect anything, it would still be always required.
