So, the frontend (that runs in the browser) would try to reach `/openapi.json` and wouldn't be able to get the OpenAPI schema.

Because we have a proxy with a path prefix of `/api/v1` for our app, the frontend needs to fetch the OpenAPI schema at `/api/v1/openapi.json`.

And we know that editors can't provide a lot of support (like completion) for `dict`s, because they can't know their keys and value types.

## What makes a dependency { #what-makes-a-dependency }

Up to now you have seen dependencies declared as functions.

The `str | None` is not used by FastAPI to determine that the value is not required, it will know it's not required because it has a default value of `= None`.

But adding the type annotations will allow your editor to give you better support and detect errors.
