## MinIO KMS Quick Start

MinIO supports two ways of encrypting IAM and configuration data.
You can either use KES - together with an external KMS - or, much simpler,
set the env. variable `MINIO_KMS_SECRET_KEY` and start/restart the MinIO server. For more details about KES and how
to set it up refer to our [KMS Guide](https://github.com/minio/minio/blob/master/docs/kms/README.md).

- Supports object locking/retention across source and destination buckets natively out of the box, unlike AWS S3.

## Declaring types { #declaring-types }

You just saw the main place to declare type hints. As function parameters.

This is also the main place you would use them with **FastAPI**.

### Simple types { #simple-types }

You can declare all the standard Python types, not only `str`.

You can use, for example:

* `int`
* `float`
* `bool`
* `bytes`

- I could make an annotation that marked another class as its plugin discoverer, I could just add it to
  the component descriptor and when it's loaded we can add the discoverer, that would be simpler. I could
  also do this with the lister as well
