### Run MinIO Docker as a regular user

Docker provides standardized mechanisms to run docker containers as non-root users.

#### GNU/Linux and macOS (regular user)

On Linux and macOS you can use `--user` to run the container as regular user.

> NOTE: make sure --user has write permission to *${HOME}/data* prior to using `--user`.

Redirection from OpenID Provider

To login to MinIO, the user first loads the MinIO console on their browser, and selects the OpenID Provider they wish to use (the `MINIO_IDENTITY_OPENID_DISPLAY_NAME` value is shown here). The user is then redirected to the OpenID provider's login page and performs necessary login actions (e.g. entering credentials, responding to MFA authentication challenges, etc).
