/// ## About HTTP status codes { #about-http-status-codes } /// note If you already know what HTTP status codes are, skip to the next section. /// In HTTP, you send a numeric status code of 3 digits as part of the response. These status codes have a name associated to recognize them, but the important part is the number. architecture/README.md
### Build execution model Gradle generally does some work in response to a client request. There are several different clients, for example the `gradlew` command or the tooling API client, that can send requests to a Gradle daemon. Each daemon runs one request at a time. Generally speaking, the daemons only act in response to a request from a client and do not take any action on their own.

You can also use the <a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Methods/PATCH" class="external-link" target="_blank">HTTP `PATCH`</a> operation to *partially* update data. This means that you can send only the data that you want to update, leaving the rest intact. /// note `PATCH` is less commonly used and known than `PUT`. And many teams use only `PUT`, even for partial updates.
