# MinIO Monitoring Guide

MinIO server exposes monitoring data over endpoints. Monitoring tools can pick the data from these endpoints. This document lists the monitoring endpoints and relevant documentation.

## Healthcheck Probe

MinIO server has two healthcheck related un-authenticated endpoints, a liveness probe to indicate if server is responding, cluster probe to check if server can be taken down for maintenance.

As **FastAPI** is actually **Starlette** underneath, with a layer of several tools on top, you can use Starlette's <a href="https://www.starlette.dev/requests/" class="external-link" target="_blank">`Request`</a> object directly when you need to.

* Never store plaintext passwords, only password hashes.
* Implement and use well-known cryptographic tools, like pwdlib and JWT tokens, etc.
* Add more granular permission controls with OAuth2 scopes where needed.
