## About proxies with a stripped path prefix

Keep in mind that a proxy with stripped path prefix is only one of the ways to configure it.

Probably in many cases the default will be that the proxy doesn't have a stripped path prefix.

    **FastAPI** doesn't enforce any specific meaning.

    The information here is presented as a guideline, not a requirement.

    For example, when using GraphQL you normally perform all the actions using only `POST` operations.

### Step 4: define the **path operation function**

This is our "**path operation function**":

* **path**: is `/`.
* **operation**: is `get`.

You can also create an environment variable only for a specific program invocation, that is only available to that program, and only for its duration.

To do that, create it right before the program itself, on the same line:

Some metrics are bucket specific. These will have a `/bucket` component in their path. As the number of buckets can be large, the metrics scrape operation needs to be provided with a specific list of buckets via the `bucket` query parameter.
