The purpose of the link:{javadocPath}/org/gradle/api/Project.html[Project] object is to create a collection of link:{javadocPath}/org/gradle/api/Task.html[Task] objects, apply plugins, and retrieve dependencies.

You can use any of the methods and properties on the link:{javadocPath}/org/gradle/api/Project.html[Project] interface directly in your script.

Gradle represents lazy properties with two interfaces:

1. link:{javadocPath}/org/gradle/api/provider/Property.html[Property] - Represents a value that can be queried and changed.

2. link:{javadocPath}/org/gradle/api/provider/Provider.html[Provider] - Represents a value that can only be queried and cannot be changed.

Properties and providers manage _values and configurations_ in a build script.
