architecture/standards/0003-avoid-introducing-Groovy-types-to-public-api.md
This required the Kotlin DSL to add special integration to work with Groovy closures. This has also forced plugins written in languages other than Groovy to use Groovy types for some APIs. When the Kotlin DSL was introduced, we made an effort to add non-Groovy equivalents for all APIs. This has been mostly done, but there remain a few holdouts (fixing these is out of scope).

architecture/standards/0002-avoid-using-java-serialization.md
For internal purposes, we use binary formats for their brevity. We use the `Serializer` abstraction to separate the actual implementation of serialization from its uses. When sharing data with external tools, we use JSON. ## Status ACCEPTED ## Consequences * The configuration cache serialization infrastructure should be used for all serialization.

architecture/standards/0001-use-architectural-decision-records.md
We use *Specification* and *Discovery* documents stored in Google Drive, but they present some downsides: * They are rarely updated after creation and initial review, and then become hard to follow, especially after important decisions are made * They are not synced with the code to reflect the eventual solution that is committed * Google Docs is not a "code-oriented" tool, like asciidoc can be
