Handlers have a predefined Handler ID. In addition, there can be several *static* subroutes used to differentiate between different handlers of the same ID. A subroute on a client must match a subroute on the server. So routes cannot be used for dynamic routing, unlike HTTP. Handlers should remain backwards compatible. If a breaking API change is required, a new handler ID should be created. ## Setup & Configuration

// For example, *.example.com is permitted, while *a.example.com, a*.example.com, // a*b.example.com, a.*.example.com are not permitted. // 2. Asterisk (*) cannot match across domain name labels. // For example, *.example.com matches test.example.com but does not match // sub.test.example.com. // 3. Wildcard patterns for single-label domain names are not permitted.

* Implementations of this interface throw [IOException] to signal connectivity failures. This * includes both natural exceptions such as unreachable servers, as well as synthetic exceptions * when responses are of an unexpected type or cannot be decoded. * * Other exception types cancel the current call: * * * For synchronous calls made with [Call.execute], the exception is propagated to the caller. *

// Check the simple names of the Java annotations. While presence of such an annotation name does not prove deprecation, it is a // necessary condition for it. Type aliases are not a problem here: Java code cannot access Kotlin type aliases. (Currently, // deprecation annotation type aliases do not work in Kotlin, either, but this might change in the future.)
