# MinIO FIPS Builds

MinIO creates FIPS builds using a patched version of the Go compiler (that uses BoringCrypto, from BoringSSL, which is [FIPS 140-2 validated](https://csrc.nist.gov/csrc/media/projects/cryptographic-module-validation-program/documents/security-policies/140sp2964.pdf)) published by the Golang Team [here](https://github.com/golang/go/tree/dev.boringcrypto/misc/boring).

## Security

* TF is currently using giflib 5.2.1 which has [CVE-2022-28506](https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-28506). TF is not affected by the CVE as it does not use `DumpScreen2RGB` at all.

  CVE-2021-29923 golang standard library "net" - Improper Input Validation of octal literals in golang 1.16.2 and below standard library "net" results in indeterminate SSRF & RFI vulnerabilities.
