In a given setup, there are `n` MinIO instances talking to `m` KES servers but only `1` central KMS. The most simple setup consists of `1` MinIO server or cluster talking to `1` KMS via `1` KES server.

The main difference between various MinIO-KMS deployments is the KMS implementation. The following table helps you select the right option for your use case:

## Gradle runtimes

Gradle is also made up of several different processes that work together to "run the build", such as the Gradle daemon and the `gradlew` command.

Each process, or "runtime", applies different constraints to the code that runs in that process.
For example, each process has different supported JVMs and a different set of services available for dependency injection.

## Server-Side Encryption

MinIO supports two different types of server-side encryption ([SSE](#sse)):

New admins can be added after server starts up, and server can be configured to deny or allow access to different admin operations for these users. Spark/Hadoop workloads which use Hadoop MR Committer v1/v2 algorithm upload objects to a temporary prefix in a bucket. These objects are 'renamed' to a different prefix on Job commit. Object storage admins are forced to configure separate ILM policies to expire these objects and their versions to reclaim space.

#### Legacy Gateway Helm charts

Istio historically offered two different charts - `manifests/charts/gateways/istio-ingress` and `manifests/charts/gateways/istio-egress`.
These are replaced by this chart.
While not required, it is recommended all new users use this chart, and existing users migrate when possible.

## Handlers & Routes

Handlers have a predefined Handler ID.
