## Why is MinIO cloud-native?

Fundamentally, this component is responsible for the following:

- Sets up redirection with newly-started (or newly-added, previously-started) application pods such that traffic from application pods is forwarded to the local node's ztunnel pod.
- Configures required iptables, sockets, and packet routing miscellanea within the `ztunnel` and application pod network namespaces to make that happen.

This component accomplishes that in the following ways:

> NOTE: Server side replication is supported for idempotent versions on delete marked objects.

### Motivation

- Temporary credentials do not need to be stored with the application but are generated dynamically and provided to the application when requested. When (or even before) the temporary credentials expire, the application can request new credentials.

Following are advantages for using temporary credentials:

- Eliminates the need to embed long-term credentials with an application.

- `aws:UserAgent` - This value is a string that contains information about the requester's client application. This string is generated by the client and can be unreliable. You can only use this context key from `mc` or other MinIO SDKs which standardize the User-Agent string.

"s3:GetBucketObjectLockConfiguration" etc depending on whether delete replication rules are set up or if object locking is disabled on `destbucket`. The above policies assume that replication of objects, tags and delete marker replication are all enabled on object lock enabled buckets.
