+ Make sure your commit messages are in the proper format. Your commit message should contain the key of the JIRA issue.

+ Make sure you have added the necessary tests (JUnit/[Core IT tests][core-it]) for your changes.
+ Run all the tests with `mvn -Prun-its verify` to assure nothing else was accidentally broken.
+ Submit a pull request to the repository in the Apache organization.

This button will cause a Javascript alert dialog to appear asking you to type a reason for accepting the changes, e.g. "Added new API for Gradle 8.x".

Clicking okay on the dialog will cause a copy of the `accepted-public-api-changes.json` containing your (properly sorted) addition to be downloaded.

  `comp:` etc.  At this stage we check if the PR is valid and meets certain
  quality requirements. For example, we check if the CLA is signed, PR has
  sufficient description, if applicable unit tests are added, if it is a
  reasonable contribution (meaning it is not a single liner cosmetic PR).

**2. Valid?**

-   If the PR passes all the quality checks then we go ahead and assign a
    reviewer.
