# Development best practices

This is a collection of best practices for Gradle implementation.
Should and should not do's.

## Error messages and suggestions

Traditionally, if an error occurred, the error message and the possible solution were provided to the console via a single String in the corresponding exception.
That meant possible solutions for Problems could be scattered all over the console output.

This is in contrast to the **development** stages, where you are constantly changing the code, breaking it and fixing it, stopping and restarting the development server, etc.

## Deployment Strategies

There are several ways to do it depending on your specific use case and the tools that you use.

During the development, I also contributed to <a href="https://www.starlette.io/" class="external-link" target="_blank">**Starlette**</a>, the other key requirement.

## `fastapi dev`

When you run `fastapi dev`, it will run on development mode.

By default, it will have **auto-reload** enabled, so it will automatically reload the server when you make changes to your code. This is resource intensive and could be less stable than without it, you should only use it for development.

Use the following commands to run a standalone MinIO server as a container.

Standalone MinIO servers are best suited for early development and evaluation. Certain features such as versioning, object locking, and bucket replication
require distributed deploying MinIO with Erasure Coding. For extended development and production, deploy MinIO with Erasure Coding enabled - specifically,

- **Execution**: Runs the work efficiently. This includes scheduling, execution, caching and so on.

#### Software development platform

This is a general purpose platform that builds on the core automation platform to add support for the automation of software development.
This includes work such as compiling, testing and documenting software, plus sharing that software via publishing and dependency management.
