> The admin user running this command needs the "admin:SetTier" and "admin:ListTier" permissions if not running as root.

    - creates service-account `istio-cni` with `ClusterRoleBinding` to allow gets on pods' info and delete/modifications for recovery.

- `install-cni` container
    - copies `istio-cni` and `istio-iptables` to `/opt/cni/bin`
    - creates kubeconfig for the service account the pod runs under
    - periodically copy the K8S JWT token for istio-cni on the host to connect to K8S.

Ensure the created binary is in your PATH to run the examples below.

### Controller (in cluster)

Building a custom controller requires a Dockerhub (or similar) account. To build using the container based build:

HUB=docker.io/<your-account> TAG=latest make docker.operator

This builds the controller binary and docker file, and pushes the image to the specified hub with the `latest` tag.

## Uninstalling the Chart

Previously, site replication required the root credentials of peer sites to be identical. This is no longer necessary because STS tokens are now signed with the site replicator service account credentials, thus allowing flexibility in the independent management of root accounts across sites and the ability to disable root accounts eventually.

* Designed with Helm best practices in mind (standardized values options, values schema, values are not all nested under `gateways.istio-ingressgateway.*`, release name and namespace taken into account, etc).
* Utilizes Gateway injection, simplifying upgrades, allowing gateways to run in any namespace, and avoiding repeating config for sidecars and gateways.

4) Add the version to `SUPPORTED_VERSIONS` in `updater.sh`, and
   `release_updater.sh`

5) Run the `updater.sh` shell script. \
   If the base requirements file hasn't yet been updated to account for the new
   Python version, which will require different versions for at least some
   dependencies, it will need to be updated now, for the script to run
   successfully.
