# Advanced Dependencies ## Parameterized dependencies All the dependencies we have seen are a fixed function or class. But there could be cases where you want to be able to set parameters on the dependency, without having to declare many different functions or classes. In particular, this may be a good alternative to logic in a middleware. For example, if you want to read or manipulate the request body before it is processed by your application. /// danger This is an "advanced" feature. If you are just starting with **FastAPI** you might want to skip this section. /// ## Use cases Some use cases include:

/// ## Advanced usage with `scopes` OAuth2 has the notion of "scopes". You can use them to add a specific set of permissions to a JWT token. Then you can give this token to a user directly or a third party, to interact with your API with a set of restrictions. You can learn how to use them and how they are integrated into **FastAPI** later in the **Advanced User Guide**. ## Recap

# Advanced Middleware In the main tutorial you read how to add [Custom Middleware](../tutorial/middleware.md){.internal-link target=_blank} to your application. And then you also read how to handle [CORS with the `CORSMiddleware`](../tutorial/cors.md){.internal-link target=_blank}. In this section we'll see how to use other middlewares. ## Adding ASGI middlewares
