## Major themes

Kubernetes is developed by community members whose work is organized into
[Special Interest Groups](https://github.com/kubernetes/community/blob/master/sig-list.md), which provide the themes that guide their work. For the 1.9 release, these themes included:

### API Machinery

  The API Server will no longer proxy non-101 responses for upgrade requests. "StartupProbe indicates that the Pod has successfully initialized. If specified, no other probes are executed until this completes successfully. If this probe fails, the Pod will be restarted, just as if the livenessProbe failed.
