For the 1.8 release, SIG API Machinery focused on stability and on ecosystem enablement. - Fixed accidental enablement of the new alpha `optionalOldSelf` API field in `CustomResourceDefinition` validation rules, which should only have been allowed to be set when the `CRDValidationRatcheting` feature gate is enabled.

* kube-apiserver: `--runtime-config` can once again be used to enable/disable serving specific resources in the `extensions/v1beta1` API group. Note that specific resource enablement/disablement is only allowed for the `extensions/v1beta1` API group for legacy reasons.
