### SIG Scheduling

* Interaction with container runtimes is now through the CRI interface, enabling easier integration of runtimes with the kubelet. Docker remains the default runtime via Docker-CRI (which moves to beta).

### SIG AWS

In v1.13 we worked on tighter integrations of Kubernetes API objects with AWS services. These include three out-of-tree alpha feature releases:

1) Alpha for AWS ALB (Application Load Balancer) integration to Kubernetes Ingress resources.
2) Alpha for CSI specification 0.3 integration to AWS EBS (Elastic Block Store)

resources such as secrets, a mechanism to store resource encryption keys in external Key Management Systems (KMS) was introduced. This complements the original file-based storage and allows integration with multiple KMS. A Google Cloud KMS plugin was added and will be usable once the Google side of the integration is complete.

- If a pod has a running instance, the stats of its previously terminated instances will not show up in the kubelet summary stats any more for CRI runtimes such as containerd and cri-o. This keeps the behavior consistent with Docker integration, and fixes an issue that some container Prometheus metrics don't work when there are summary stats for multiple instances of the same pod.
