doc/go_mem.html
<p> This rule generalizes the previous rule to buffered channels. It allows a counting semaphore to be modeled by a buffered channel: the number of items in the channel corresponds to the number of active uses, the capacity of the channel corresponds to the maximum number of simultaneous uses, sending an item acquires the semaphore, and receiving an item releases the semaphore. This is a common idiom for limiting concurrency. </p> <p>

importMap map[string]map[string]string // import path → canonical import path } var listCache sync.Map // map[string]listImports, keyed by contextName // listSem is a semaphore restricting concurrent invocations of 'go list'. 'go // list' has its own internal concurrency, so we use a hard-coded constant (to // allow the I/O-intensive phases of 'go list' to overlap) instead of scaling

android/guava/src/com/google/common/util/concurrent/RateLimiter.java
* * <p>Rate limiters are often used to restrict the rate at which some physical or logical resource * is accessed. This is in contrast to {@link java.util.concurrent.Semaphore} which restricts the * number of concurrent accesses instead of the rate (note though that concurrency and rate are * closely related, e.g. see <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little%27s_law">Little's * Law</a>). *Created: Fri Apr 03 12:43:13 GMT 2026 - Last Modified: Fri Dec 26 20:05:27 GMT 2025 - 21.8K bytes - Click Count (0)
