### Importing the project into IntelliJ IDEA

The minimum IntelliJ IDEA version required to import the Elasticsearch project is 2020.1
Elasticsearch builds using Java 16. When importing into IntelliJ you will need
to define an appropriate SDK. The convention is that **this SDK should be named

#### Import Gradle into IntelliJ

To import Gradle into IntelliJ:
- Open the `build.gradle.kts` file in root of the project with IntelliJ and choose "Open as Project"
- Select a Adoptium Java 17 VM as "Gradle JVM"
- Revert the Git changes to files in the `.idea` folder

The return type of `HttpUrl.queryParameterValues()` is `List<String?>`. Lists that may contain null
are uncommon and Kotlin callers may have incorrectly assigned the result to `List<String>`.
