These rules are checked dynamically at runtime. The checking is controlled by the cgocheck setting of the GODEBUG environment variable. The default setting is GODEBUG=cgocheck=1, which implements reasonably cheap dynamic checks. These checks may be disabled entirely using GODEBUG=cgocheck=0. Complete checking of pointer handling, at some cost in run time, is available by setting GOEXPERIMENT=cgocheck2 at build time.

There is no plan to remove these settings. ### Go 1.6 Go 1.6 introduced transparent support for HTTP/2, controlled by the [`http2client`, `http2server`, and `http2debug` settings](/pkg/net/http/#hdr-HTTP_2). There is no plan to remove these settings. ### Go 1.5 Go 1.5 introduced a pure Go DNS resolver, controlled by the [`netdns` setting](/pkg/net/#hdr-Name_Resolution).

// * If the UTF-8 flag is cleared, several readers simply interpret the // name and comment fields as whatever the local system encoding is. // // In order to avoid breaking readers without UTF-8 support, // we avoid setting the UTF-8 flag if the strings are CP-437 compatible. // However, if the strings require multibyte UTF-8 encoding and is a // valid UTF-8 string, then we set the UTF-8 bit. //
