src/README.vendor
copies of a package at different versions if the package is imported normally and vendored by the standard library. Vendored packages are internally renamed with a "vendor/" prefix to preserve the invariant that all packages have distinct paths. This is necessary to avoid compiler and linker conflicts. Adding a "vendor/" prefix also maintains the invariant that standard library packages begin with a dotless path element.

Files in this repo's `api/next` directory must have corresponding files in `doc/next/*stdlib/*minor`. The files should be in the subdirectory for the package with the new API, and should be named after the issue number of the API proposal. [time.Timer] and [time.Ticker]. First, `Timer`s and `Ticker`s that are no longer referred to by the program become eligible for garbage collection immediately, even if their `Stop` methods have not been called. Earlier versions of Go did not collect unstopped `Timer`s until after they had fired and never collected unstopped `Ticker`s. Second, the timer channel associated with a `Timer` or `Ticker` is

On Windows, the mode bits reported by [Lstat] and [Stat] for reparse points changed. Mount points no longer have [ModeSymlink] set, and reparse points that are not symlinks, Unix sockets, or dedup files now always have [ModeIrregular] set. This behavior is controlled by the `winsymlink` setting. For Go 1.23, it defaults to `winsymlink=1`.
