### Download and Install

#### Binary Distributions

Official binary distributions are available at https://go.dev/dl/.

After downloading a binary release, visit https://go.dev/doc/install
for installation instructions.

#### Install From Source

If a binary distribution is not available for your combination of
operating system and architecture, visit

Prometheus server is a single binary called `prometheus` (or `prometheus.exe` on Microsoft Windows). Run the binary and pass `--help` flag to see available options

and replaced with those of `initial`. From the repo root:

    > cd doc
    > rm -r next/*
    > cp -r initial/* next

Then edit `next/1-intro.md` to refer to the next version.

To prepare the release notes for a release, run `golang.org/x/build/cmd/relnote generate`.

2.  APIs without `@Beta` will remain binary-compatible for the indefinite
    future. (Previously, we sometimes removed such APIs after a deprecation
    period. The last release to remove non-`@Beta` APIs was Guava 21.0.) Even

by a different role than the prod version.

The intended users of this repo are users running Istio in production who want to select, tune
and understand each binary that gets deployed, and select which combination to use.

### 2. Run MinIO Server with Erasure Code

Example: Start MinIO server in a 12 drives setup, using MinIO binary.

Metadata is stored in `xl.meta` files for erasure coded objects. Each disk in the set containing the object has this file. The file format is a binary format and therefore requires tools to view values.

### Installing xl-meta

To install, [Go](https://golang.org/dl/) must be installed. Once installed, execute this to install the binary:

go install github.com/minio/minio/docs/debugging/xl-meta@latest
```

### Using xl-meta

### GNU/Linux and macOS

#### 3.3.1 Install and configure GnuTLS

Download and decompress the Windows version of GnuTLS from [here](http://www.gnutls.org/download.html).

Use PowerShell to add the path of the extracted GnuTLS binary to the system path:

setx path "%path%;C:\Users\MyUser\Downloads\gnutls-3.4.9-w64\bin"
```

**Note:** PowerShell may need to be restarted for this change to take effect.
